Project Symphony was led by Western Power, Synergy, and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) with funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) under ARENA’s Advanced Renewables Program. The pilot brought together over 900 assets from participating households and businesses across Piara Waters, Harrisdale, and Atwell. These distributed energy resources generated power from rooftop solar panels, stored it in solar batteries, and discharged energy at times of peak demand, as outlined in the ARENA final lessons report.
The project demonstrated how DER can act in the same way as a traditional power station, contributing to grid stability and advancing the state’s renewables-based economy, highlighted further by Western Power’s Project Symphony summary.
